The Mile End Institute is delighted to announce the appointment of a new patron, Lord Bob Kerslake.

A former Head of the Civil Service, and permanent secretary at the Department for Communities and Local Government, Lord Kerslake also has a distinguished record of service in local government, spending 8 years at the London Borough of Hounslow and then a further 11 years leading Sheffield Council.

He is now Chair of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Director of the Mile End Institute, Professor Michael Kenny said: "Lord Kerslake's considerable experience at the heart of central government, and  background in local government, make him ideally equipped to shape and inform our on-going work on questions of governance and statehood in a changing UK".
